Biographical Information

Eric Rowe
British 1938

Eric Rowe was born in London in 1938. On leaving school, he went on to study art and design at Harrow Art College in West London. He then worked as an illustrator at a London design studio, working with the fashion and advertising industry.

In conjunction with the commercial work he also began painting portraits and equestrian subjects, both for commissions and fine art publication. As this side of his career took off, he was able to establish himself as a freelance illustrator, so that he was able to devote more time to painting. At around the same time, he moved out from London to Oxfordshire.

Over time, Rowe has become more focused on the original painting and his interest has broadened to incorporate landscape and wildlife subjects as well as African Game.
