Biographical Information

Janet Crawford
1968 American

Working from her studio at Sebring Stables in Richmond, Massachusetts, Janet Crawford depicts the equestrian lifestyle. Hunters/Jumpers, Saddlebreds, Hackney ponies and Morgans are frequent subjects of the artist. 

After completing a bachelor of Fine Arts at Rhode Island College in 1991, the artist began a professional career in the portraiture of horses. Crawford's work has been featured on the covers of publications such as "The Chronicle of the Horse", "The Pedlar", and "The Morgan Horse". The prestigious Hampton Classic Horse Show selected Janet's work for their 25th anniversary poster in 2000. Her portraits of horses and dogs hang in private collections in the United States, Canada and Europe. There is a line if note cards and reproductions available featuring many of the popular images. 

The artist is an avid Hackney pony enthusiast, competing each year at such shows as Devon, the Royal Winter Fair and Louisville. Janet has recently settled in Pittsfield, Massachusetts with her husband, trainer Rodney Hicks and their son, Danny.
